Next NPP government will introduce simple tax system for you – NAPO tells spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said the next NPP government which will be formed in 2025 will fulfill its pledge to ensure a friendly business environment for spare parts dealers by repealing all twenty-two taxes and introduce a flat tax rate for business to thrive.

Delivering his address during a ‘community connect’ at Abossey Okai in the Ablekuma Central Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, he stressed the strong desire of the NPP to support and expand businesses and the private sector through a new tax regime by his government, which he said, has been designed to aid businesses and also help the economy grow.

During his tour, he called on the Chief of Abossey Okai, Nii Abossey Okai III, and toured the Abossey Okai business centre in the Ablekuma Central Constituency.

At a gathering made up of businessmen and women, he emphasized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision of implementing a Flat Tax Rate for importers, which aims to bring predictability and stability to the prices of imported goods.

This initiative, he stated, aligns with the NPP’s overarching goal of fostering an environment where businesses can thrive.

“The enthusiasm displayed at Abossey Okai today underscores the commitment to joining our Presidential Candidate on this journey of possibilities,” he said.

He bemoaned the challenges importers and exporters are going through, including the hike in the dollar, he said the NDC will have no solution to their problems.

NAPO stressed that to start the new tax system on a clean slate, government will provide a tax amnesty, ” a complete exemption from the payment of taxes for a specified period and the waiving of interest and penalties up to a certain year to individuals and businesses for failures to file taxes in previous years so that everyone will start afresh.”

The running mate took a swipe at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama, questioning their competence to roll out a 24-hour economy.

Dr Opoku Prempeh questioned the practicality of the decision by John Mahama to let nightclubs operate 24 hours a day when he becomes president.
