‘I believe NPP can snatch Asutifi South parliamentary seat from NDC’ — NAPO

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is confident of winning the Asutifi South parliamentary seat in the Ahafo region in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

In a social media post on Wednesday, September 11, Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, the Running Mate of NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, said the passion and enthusiasm shown by residents during his campaign tour of the constituency gives him belief that the seat can be won.

“Given the passion and enthusiasm displayed, I believe that with continued hard work, the Asutifi South parliamentary seat will flip in favour of the elephant, with Yaw Owusu Brempong leading the charge,” reads part of his post.

He further urged Ghanaians to remember the transformative work of the NPP government under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership and vote for the party’s presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in December.

NAPO emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s track record as vice president delivering problem-solving initiatives.

“Last night, from Hwediem to Nkaseim in the Asutifi South constituency, I urged the chiefs and people—especially the youth to remember the transformative work done by the NPP and vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in December. I emphasized that our Presidential Candidate, Dr. Bawumia, as Vice President, has problem-solving initiatives to his name, same of which cannot be said of our opponent. Bawumia Means Business!,” Dr Opoku Prempeh said.

The Asutifi South constituency used to be a swing seat, having changed hands between the NPP and NDC in previous elections until 2012.

However, the National Democratic Congress has held on to the seat since 2012 with incumbent Member of Parliament Alhaji Collins Dauda.
