E/R: Man electrocuted after alleged attempt to steal ECG transformer

An unidentified man believed to be in his early 30s has been electrocuted after an attempt to steal a transformer belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at Suhyen in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

Residents of Suhyen Tuesday morning woke up to the lifeless body of the unidentified man with no physical marks of assault next to the ECG transformer.

Installations of the power distribution company have consistently been under serious attack in the Eastern Region in recent times, a situation which is largely affecting the operations of the company.

Personnel from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) who were informed about the unfortunate incident rushed to the scene in the company of the Koforidua Effiduase Police Divisional command to commence investigations to unravel the actual cause of death.

The New Juaben North Municipal Deputy Director of Nadmo Daniel Kankam Twumasi who confirmed the incident to Citi News indicated that the body of the unidentified man has since been deposited at the Effiduase St. Joseph Hospital.
