Reverend Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of allowing river bodies in the country to be destroyed by illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
According to him, even though he has praised the president in certain aspects of the economy, the president has failed on the issue of galamsey.
“Rivers are being destroyed in this country, and all the river bodies in Ghana are being destroyed. So, pastors should rise and fight against galamsey because if we don’t take care, very soon we might not have water to drink. Chiefs should rise, and elders and stakeholders should rise because galamsey is destroying the rivers,” he said.
Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, September 22, 2024, he added, “President Nana Akufo-Addo has sat down for galamsey to destroy all our river bodies. They should be careful. Why would they destroy river bodies?
“Everyone has their opinion. If there are certain things that will destroy the country, we have to say them. Nana Addo, when he does good things, I will say it. If it’s bad, I will also say it.
“I am the same person who praised him for doing well, but the galamsey is destroying the rivers. Recently, I heard in the news that we might import water, and in certain places, children are born deformed.”
