Why do you promote same-sex relationships but condemn polygamy? – Ga Mantse fumes at Western countries

The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has shared his perspective on LGBT+ activities, describing them as an “affront” to his values as both a Christian and a traditionalist.

The Ga ruler questioned the Western stance on same-sex relationships, suggesting that the promotion of polygamy would be more appropriate.

“I believe the West should promote polygamy. Why do they promote same-sex relationships and think polygamy is bad?” citinewsroom.com quoted him to have said in an interview.

When asked about his stance on the anti-LGBT+ bill currently awaiting President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo‘s assent, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II explained that the matter did not warrant his attention.

He opined that individuals’ privileges and preferences should not become focal points of interest.

Meanwhile, the Parliament of Ghana on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, passed the Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, widely known as the anti-LGBT+ bill.

The bill, currently awaiting presidential assent, proscribes Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) activities and criminalises their promotion, advocacy, and funding.

Persons caught in these acts will be subjected to a six-month to three-year jail term, with promoters and sponsors facing a three to five-year jail term.

However, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has refused to assent to the bill, citing legal issues.
