The Black Stars suffered their first defeat today 5th September, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in 24 years, losing 1-0 to Angola, thanks to a late goal from Milson.
Despite a sharp start, the Black Stars struggled to create clear chances. Jordan Ayew’s early effort was blocked, and Semenyo missed from close range. Angola threatened but failed to capitalize, with Gelson Dala coming close twice.
The second half saw more urgency from Ghana, but long-range attempts were their best opportunities. Ati Zigi made a crucial save in the 79th minute, but Milson capitalized on a defensive error to score a 94th minute goal and secure victory for Angola. The loss drops Ghana to third in Group F, three points behind Angola and Sudan, ahead of their next AFCON qualifier against Niger on Monday 9th September, 2024.
