Lawyer Yaw Anokye, flagbearer hopeful for the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has slammed critics for using his advanced age against his audacious dreams of leading the party to the crucial forthcoming December elections.
He questioned why this argument will come up in the first place when nobody has used same measure to judge Former President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia who are also advanced in age.
He made this bold pronouncements while speaking in an interview with Accra-based Starr FM.
“Nobody has called Former President John Dramani Mahama and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia old men, so who will call me an old man?” He quizzed.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Yaw Anokye noted that if he secures the mandate of Ghanaians to occupy the highest executive office in the country he will revise the Free Senior High School policy to make it more targeted at the very poor in society.
He mentioned that he would insist those who can afford to take their children through high school pay for it.
Consequently, children of the middle class comprising wards of lawyers, judges and among others will not benefit from the program under his regime.
“I will target the needy in society so lawyers, judges and others should not expect their children to receive free Senior High School Education,” he added.
Explaining how his candidacy will enhance the fortunes of CPP which is the political party of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Lawyer Yaw Anokye stated that he would dominate in the Western, Western North and Volta Regions, adding that he would give the NPP a run for their money in the Ashanti Region which happens to be the stronghold of the ruling party.
As the CPP Presidential Primary Elections draw closer, it remains to be seen how Lawyer Yaw Anokye navigate the political landscape to lead the party to the upcoming presidential elections.
