NDC Demands Live Broadcast of Meeting with EC on Voters Register

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made a formal request to the Electoral Commission (EC) to allow a live broadcast of their upcoming meeting to discuss the voters register. The meeting, scheduled for September 7, 2024, at the EC’s headquarters in Accra, is expected to address concerns and discrepancies in the voters register.

According to the NDC, the live broadcast is essential to ensure transparency and accountability in the electoral process. “We want to ensure that the Ghanaian people are able to witness the discussions and the decisions that are taken on the voters register,” said NDC Director of Communications, Sammy Gyamfi. “We believe that this will help to build trust and confidence in the electoral process.”

The NDC has been vocal about their concerns regarding the voters register, alleging irregularities and discrepancies. The party claims that the current register is bloated and compromised, which could impact the outcome of the December 7 general elections.

By requesting a live broadcast, the NDC aims to demonstrate their commitment to transparency and ensure that the electoral process is free from manipulation. “We want to make sure that everything is done in the open, and the Ghanaian people are able to see for themselves,” added Gyamfi.

The EC has yet to respond to the NDC’s request, but it is expected to make a decision on the matter soon. If approved, the live broadcast will provide an opportunity for Ghanaians to witness the discussions and decisions made on the voters register, promoting transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
