NAPO merely encouraged chiefs to influence politics – Fifi Boafo reveals

A spokesman for Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Fifi Boafo, clarified that Dr. Prempeh’s calls on chiefs to express their views on political issues are not in violation of the Constitution of Ghana.

Speaking at a meeting with the Nungua Traditional Council, Dr. Opoku Prempeh stressed the important role traditional leaders play in the development of Ghana and encouraged them to express their views on the political situation in Ghana.

In an interview with City FM, Fifi Boafo stressed that Prempeh’s intention was to ensure collective development and not to undermine the Constitution.

He explained that Dr. Opoku Prempeh seeks a strong position among traditional authorities on important issues such as natural resource management to prevent politicians from making selfish decisions.

The speaker reiterated that Dr.: In Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, there is no requirement for chiefs to join political parties. Instead, he wants them to contribute their perspectives as key stakeholders in Ghana’s development.
