The 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated under the global theme “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” focused on the dreams and ambitions of girls worldwide, emphasizing their empowerment as a key to a better tomorrow. In Ghana, Nana Adwoa Enyinfuaa III, Queenmother of Ekumfi Swedru and CEO of Ena Kare Foundation, in collaboration with Leeco Educational Complex, led the charge in commemorating the day in style.

The event, held at Leeco Educational Complex in Kasoa, brought together a variety of key stakeholders, including representatives from government agencies, civil society groups, partners, and the media. Under the theme “Empowering Young Girls Because A Girl With A Dream Can Change The World,” the celebration focused on the transformative power of girls’ education and empowerment.

The occasion saw enthusiastic participation from girls, who engaged in activities like school visits, intergenerational dialogues, and a girls’ media takeover. These activities provided platforms for the girls to share their visions and discuss pressing issues such as gender equality, climate change, and their role in sustainable development.

The event in Ghana aimed to amplify the voices of girls, increase awareness of the challenges they face, and mobilize support for their empowerment and leadership in society.
