In the heat of Ghana’s election season, some unique and unexpected ways of campaigning have begun to surface. One such example left a man both surprised and amused when his wife unknowingly bought a loaf of bread at Estate Junction on Spintex Road in Accra. Later, they discovered that the bread packaging had an image of the NDC’s flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama.
At first, the bread appeared completely normal, with no signs of any political message. The side of the loaf displayed in the shop didn’t reveal anything unusual. However, when they turned the loaf, there was John Mahama’s face, printed on the packaging alongside the NDC logo and slogans. It seemed like a regular product from a local bakery, but it had turned into a creative campaign tool.
The man remarked, “I know it’s election season, but I was quite surprised that a business would advertise John Mahama on bread. My wife bought it without noticing.” He added that since only one side of the packaging shows the image, buyers may not see it until they turn the loaf. “People get creative during elections,” he concluded with a laugh.
