Mafi Traditional Council Appeals to John Mahama for Developmental Projects During His Campaign Visit

During a recent campaign visit to Central Tongu in the Volta Region, the chiefs of the Mafi Traditional Council made a heartfelt appeal to the NDC presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, urging him to prioritize key developmental projects for their community if he is re-elected as President of Ghana.

As the Volta Regional NDC Communication Team Member, Stanley Agbozo, disclosed this to Modern Ghana, the chiefs’ requests were centered on improving the infrastructure and educational opportunities within their area. Among their top priorities is the upgrading of the Adidome Farm Institute to a veterinary college, rather than its proposed conversion into a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution. The chiefs believe that transforming the institute into a veterinary college would better serve the agricultural needs of the region, which is heavily dependent on livestock farming.

Additionally, the chiefs appealed for the construction of a good complex for the Mafi Traditional Council. They emphasized the importance of having a modern and well-equipped facility that can serve as a central hub for traditional governance and cultural activities in the community.

Another significant request was the improvement of town roads within the Mafi Traditional Area. The chiefs highlighted the poor state of these roads, which has hampered transportation and economic activities in the area. They urged John Mahama to make road construction in their communities a priority, as this would significantly enhance the quality of life for residents and boost local development.

Furthermore, the chiefs expressed their gratitude to John Mahama for his continued commitment to the Mafi Traditional Area, even after his tenure as President ended. They noted that despite losing office, he has always honored their invitations and remained dedicated to the welfare of the people of Mafi.

In recognition of his unwavering support, the chiefs voiced their strong desire for him to appoint Hon. Alexander Gabby Roosevelt Hottordze, the current Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, as the Regional Minister for the Volta Region in his next administration. They believe that Hon. Hottordze’s appointment would bring about significant benefits to the region, given his deep understanding of the area’s challenges and his commitment to addressing them.

The chiefs’ appeals to John Mahama were made in a spirit of optimism and hope. They see in him a leader who has consistently shown respect and dedication to their community, and they trust that, if given another opportunity to lead the nation, he will prioritize their needs and work towards bringing sustainable development to the Mafi Traditional Area.

As the campaign trail continues, it is evident that the people of Central Tongu and the entire Volta Region hold high expectations for John Mahama’s leadership. The chiefs’ requests reflect the pressing needs of their communities and their desire for a leader who will deliver on promises and bring tangible improvements to their lives.

To conclude, the Mafi Traditional Council remains hopeful that John Mahama, if elected, will take swift action to address their concerns and work towards the development of their beloved community. Their appeals serve as a reminder of the importance of responsive and people-centered governance, which listens to the needs of the people and strives to meet them effectively.
