How the NDC Planned to Shoot My Son at Kasoa Peace Talk – Hawa Koomson

Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has revealed that she had informed the police about a plot by some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to kill her son, Ato Koomson. He was found there a few days before he was stabbed.

Speaking at a peace talk event aimed at resolving the conflict between the NDC and NPP in the constituency at Kasoa Odikro Palace, Hawa Koomson said despite her efforts for peace and ensuring her son’s safety the NDC ended up stabbing him in the chest during a recent voter transfer exercise..

“The day I heard there was a plot to shoot my son, the person who gave me the information showed me the mastermind of the plot so I saw him. I reported issue to the police and informed the detectives and they asked me to show them the person. My police bodyguard and I went to show him the person. He reported the incident to his divisional commander who advised him not to sleep in the same place that night,” she said.

She detailed the events leading up to the stabbing, indicating that the main objective of the attack on her son was to kill him at all costs.

“Someone beat my son in front of the NDC constituency organisers. He responded in kind because he is a man. I did not raise him to back away from those who beat him. I taught him to take revenge. “After the slap, someone who was planning to shoot my son came out of nowhere and stabbed him. They stabbed him in the right chest where my son’s heart is because they wanted to cause me a loss,” she explained.

She stressed that she could not forgive the perpetrators who attacked her son but was leaving the matter to the police who will be in charge of investigation and prosecution.

Ato Koomson was stabbed in the chest by an NDC district organiser during a voter handover exercise.

The suspect has been arrested and is cooperating with investigations.

The NDC, however, vigorously defended the suspect, claiming that he was rather defending himself from being lynched by Koomson’s thugs.

Ahead of the 2024 general elections, Awutu Senya East has been declared a hotspot by security agencies due to the history of electoral violence in the constituency.

Peace talks chaired by chiefs in the area were aimed at promoting harmony between the NPP and NDC in the constituency.
