On Day 2 of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration, themed “#StopGalamseyNow, there were many incidents, including the arrest of some protestors.
One significant event at the demonstration grounds was the police chasing Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a prominent member of the Democracy Hub, the organisers.
In a viral video shared by Accra-based Citi FM, Oliver Barker-Vormawor was seen taking a key from a police vehicle and leaving the scene with it.
A police officer who witnessed Barker-Vormawor’s actions ran after him, shouting, “He has taken the key; thief arrest him. You guys should arrest him.”
The actions of the Constitutional Rights and Policy Strategy Advisor for the Democracy Hub sparked reactions on social media.
Many social media commentators criticised Barker-Vormawor’s actions and called for his arrest.
The following are how some netizens reacted to Oliver Barker-Vormawor’s actions:
Actions that are driven by careful logical reasoning are rare.
Actions that are driven by emotion and instinct are common. If you have a good reputation, be very careful of what you say or do.

This is uncalled for…
This behaviour will eventually undermine the integrity and importance of the entire exercise— Kofi Ananse (@AnanseKofi123) September 22, 2024
In as much as it’s wrong to remove the key to a police vehicle and throw it away, the Ghana Police also as part of being smart, security conscious should have removed the key after parking the vehicle. What kinda training do these Police personnel undergo anyway?

All he wants to do is to provoke the Police to hurt him to get the attention he’s looking for. They should allow him to do whatever he wants. When he’s tired, he’ll stop.
