Ghanaian midfielder Joseph Amoah, who has recently played for Vitória de Guimarães, has agreed to join Unio de Leiria for one season.
The 29-year-old joins Leiria after spending nine seasons at Guimarães, the past two with Vitória B. The player arrived in Portugal in the 2014/2015 season, having previously played for Feyenoord in the Netherlands.
“I am very happy to be here and grateful for the opportunity”, said Joseph Amoah, quoted in a statement from the SAD da União de Leiria.
With the addition of Amoah, the club managed by Vasco Botelho da Costa now has ten reinforcements after winning Liga 3 last season and ensuring their return to professional competitions 11 years later.
Unio de Leiria play their home matches at Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, with a 23,888-seat capacity.
Unio de Leiria played out a goalless draw in their first game in the Liga Portugal 2 against Paços de Ferreira at the Estadio Capital do Movel.
