Ghana coach Chris Hughton monitoring France-based Ghanaian players ahead of CAR clash

Ghana coach Chris Hughton is currently in France monitoring Ghanaian players plying their trade in the French leagues ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifier against Central Africa Republic.

The Black Stars are expected to face CAR in the final round of the qualifiers on September 7, 2023 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

At the weekend, the former Premier League manager took it upon himself to scout some Ghanaian players in the French Leagues.

He was in attendance when Amiens defeated Auxerre in the French Ligue 2 on Saturday, where he seized the opportunity to meet Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu and Nicolas Opoku.

He continued his monitoring on Sunday, watching Clermont Foot clash against AS Monaco. After the game, Hughton met Alidu Seidu and Grejohn Kyei who recently declared his intention to play for the Black Stars.

Kyei, who was born in France to Ghanaian parents could earn his first Black Stars call up for the final AFCON qualifier.

Ghana need a positive result to secure their place at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next year.
