#DumsorMustStop: Henry Osei Akoto fires NAPO

One of the organizers of the #DumsorMustStop vigil, Henry Osei Akoto, has told the Energy Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, to stop being arrogant.

His comment follows the remarks made by the energy minister in the wake of the Dumsor crisis, which are yet to be rectified.

Some remarks NAPO made included telling Ghanaians to release their load-shedding timetable and that the country is in an era of “dum sie sie,” not John Dramani Mahama’s four years of dumsor.

Speaking to the media at the protest, which was held on June 8, 2024, he relayed a message to the energy minister, telling him to quit his arrogant behaviour.

Henry Osei Akoto also said they will continue to disturb the government with dumsor protests until the situation is mitigated.

“We are here to make sure Nana Addo gets us our light. That is what we are saying. NAPO, that arrogance should stop. Look, Article 21 says it clearly. We have every right to join any procession or demonstration. We need our lights. I know Ghana can only be powered with 3,750 megawatts of power, and NAPO and Nana Addo aren’t giving that to us. They are lying to us, saying that we are not in Dumsor. So, what I am saying is that, Nana Addo, we need our lights. If you don’t give us our lights, we won’t let you sleep,” he said.

Led by Salom Ramado, Henry Osei Akoto, and Ghanaian actress and producer Yvonne Nelson, the #DumsorMustStop vigil took place on June 8, 2024.

The protest started at the University of Ghana, Legon, and ended at the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout.
