CFAG demands immediate arrest of Amenfi East NPP PC, others over galamsey video

The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana (CFAG) has called on the Ghana Police Service to immediately arrest Ernest Frimpong, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi East, along with the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, and the Municipal Chief Executive (DCE) of Amenfi East.

This demand follows the circulation of a video on social media in which Ernest Frimpong allegedly advises illegal miners to resist military officers patrolling the area and attempting to prevent them from their mining activities.

The forum where this occurred also included the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, who heads the Regional Security Council.

Speaking on Kasapa Premtobr3 Kase3, Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu II, president of CFAG, emphasized that no investigation is needed before arresting the trio.

“Inciting galamsey operators to attack security personnel is equivalent to beating the war drum, posing a significant threat to national security,” said Nana Bonsu.

“It’s akin to declaring war on one’s own military. As a serious country, we should have taken swift action to remand the trio for at least 10 years.”

He warned that if the police fail to act within a week, CFAG will mobilize its members to arrest the trio themselves and present them to the police for prosecution.

Bonsu believes the utterances made by the officials could lead to disturbances, unrest, and potentially incite violent groups.
