Black Stars will compete fearlessly when key players are fit – Henry Asante Twum

Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum beleives the Black Stars will be strong under Otto Addo when key players return to full fitness.

Addo, who has been awarded a 34-month deal following the dismissal of Chris Hughton lost 2-1 to Nigeria before drawing 2-2 with Uganda in his first two games played in March.

However, with the team set to face Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June later this year, Asante Twum is hopeful the team will come good.

He anticipates a full recovery for sidelined players as major leagues conclude their seasons, ensuring the squad’s readiness.

“We should have all of our players fully fit by the time the season ends, so I’m confident that we will be in a strong position to compete very soon,” affirmed Twum during an interview on Akoma FM.

“Kudus, Thomas, Amartey, Djiku, Gideon Mensah, and all of our key players are fit [should be] fit and healthy.

Asante Twum also expressed contentment with Inaki Williams’ recent triumph, securing his first trophy with Athletic Bilbao. He hopes this accomplishment will bolster Williams’ confidence as he joins the Black Stars.

The upcoming matches carry immense importance for Ghana, who must top Group H to secure a smooth qualification for the next World Cup.

With one victory and one loss in the initial two rounds, the Black Stars currently occupy the fourth spot in the standings, trailing Comoros, Mali, and Madagascar.
