AS Monaco has young and quality players, says new signing Mohammed Salisu

Mohammed Salisu says AS Monaco has a very good young team with great qualities after joining the team.

The Ghana central defender has completed a move to the French Ligue 1 side from Southampton following their relegation to the Championship.

Salisu was officially presented to the fans of the club over the weekend.

Having praised the French Ligue 1’s quality, Salisu threw the spotlight on his new club’s quality and potential to finish higher than last season’s sixth-place finish.

“Here there are a lot of young talents, very good players. I’m at a new club and AS Monaco is my priority. We have a very good and young team, with great qualities,” he said.

“So I think we have the ingredients to progress, to achieve better results than last year and achieve our goals together,” he said according to AS Monaco,” he added.

He missed his debut game against Clermont Foot due to paper works, a game Monaco won 4-2.

Salisu played three seasons at Southampton. The 24-year-old joined The Saints from Spanish side Real Valladolid.

Salisu played all three games for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He missed a chunk of the 2022-2023 season’s latter part to a knee injury but played in two Southampton pre-season games.
