UCL playoffs: Ghana defender Alexander Djiku plays full throttle to help Fenerbahçe to beat Lugano 2-1

Ghana international, Alexander Djiku was in action for Fenerbahçe SK on Tuesday night when the team came from behind to defeat Lugano 2-1 in the Uefa Champions League qualification round.

The Turkish side today hosted the team from Switzerland in the second leg of their tie in the Uefa Champions League second qualification round.

Having won the first leg 4-3 last week, Fenerbahçe SK needed to avoid a defeat at home to go through to the next round.

Unfortunately, for the team, things did not go according to play as the side trailed Lugano after just seven minutes into the first half when Mohamed Belhadi equalized.

However, thanks to goals from Edin Dzeko and Sebastian Szymanski in the second half, Fenerbahçe managed to come from behind to secure a 2-1 win to earn a 6-4 aggregate victory.

Ghana defender Alexander Djiku played the entire 90 minutes of the contest and put on a decent performance.

He will need to fight with his teammates to win their tie in the next round to secure a spot in next season’s Uefa Champions League group stage.
