“I never said that the NDC government would not reduce fuel prices” – John Jinapor

Yapei Kusawgu MP John Jinapor has reacted to misleading reports attributed to him on fuel prices.

He said he never said the next NDC government would not reduce fuel prices.

Jinapor described the allegations as false and misleading, adding that his comments on the issue had been misrepresented.

He was quoted as saying, “There are two fundamental issues with oil prices. If you can’t lower them, you can’t raise them too much. That’s the first thing we should look at.” If we are going to reduce prices, we need to consider the budget. Just because we want to be in power, we are not going to say that if we are in power, we will reduce fuel prices. No, that is not going to happen.”

The lawmaker’s clarification follows various press publications attributed to the lawmaker following his appearance on Adom TV’s Badwam show on July 12, 2024.

During the discussion, Jinapor reportedly said it would be difficult for the NDC to reduce the prices of petroleum products if it wins the 2024 elections.
