A Junior High School (JHS) student was reportedly killed during the Wulensi Fire Festival in Nunumba South District, Northern Region.
The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, died instantly when the musket he was about to fire exploded.
The incident reportedly occurred when the student fired the musket into a gutter, which then exploded and struck him in the head.
The Fire Festival, which marks the start of the Islamic calendar, was intended as a celebratory event.
However, authorities have warned against firing guns and other dangerous instruments and urged people to maintain moderation in celebrations.
Unfortunately, some people, especially the youth, did not heed this warning, resulting in a tragic loss of life. Ulensi Member of Parliament Zebira confirmed the incident to Channel One News and offered his condolences to the family.
