Squad and Team Players

The first rule covers the number of players allowed on the team. A full netball squad has seven playing positions on the court, with a minimum of five players required to start a game.

Netball Equipment

All team players must wear appropriate netball gear, including color-coded bibs. Always wear proper indoor trainers or court footwear for safety and performance.

General Play Rules

Players must pass the ball to a teammate or attempt a goal within three seconds of receiving it. You are allowed one ball bounce to gain control. There must be enough space for a third player between the hands of the thrower and the catcher.

Footwork Rules

Players can receive the ball on one foot or two feet, but hopping or dragging the landing foot is not allowed. The rules permit movement of no more than one and a half steps with the ball.

Scoring Rules

Only the Goal Shooter or Goal Attack can shoot the ball, and they must be within the goal circle to score. The ball must pass completely through the ringed hoop to count as a goal.

Winning the Match

To win the game, you need to score more points than your opponent within the regulation play time of 60 minutes (divided into four 15-minute quarters).
